Joe Martin / Advanced Cycling Training Plans

 

The Joe Martin Stage Race and Advanced Cycling have partnered to offer Joe Martin Stage Race (JMSR) training plans to Joe Martin race participants who are targeting this race as their main goal in the spring.

Each 9-week JMSR training plan has been carefully designed based on the specific race demands for each Joe Martin category. As with most cycling events, knowledge of the course, knowledge of race demands, and historical references are fundamental for preparing a winning strategy. Each JMSR plan combines these three elements with Advanced Cycling training techniques to provide a detailed daily training schedule which will guide your preparation from day one until race day.

All JMSR training plans begin on March 8th, 2008 and run through May 11, 2008. There are four levels available so you can choose the one that best adapts to your needs. All plans assume that you have a reasonable fitness base and that you have realistic expectations with regard to your form and availability to train.

We have designed the JMSR plans to be completed outdoors, as the workouts are based on specific terrain attributes; however, some workouts could be completed indoors without compromising the integrity of the plan. The workouts include target heart rate and/or power ranges and the description of each workout is detailed without being overwhelming. You don’t need to carry a printed paper to conduct your training session. Instead, you can focus on your effort, your sensations on the bike, and the road ahead.

JSMR Training Plans Available

Level A: For Cat 1/2 men or Pro women. This plan assumes you have the ability (and availability) to train 15-20 hours and ride 6-7 days per week, and that you have logged at least 1800 miles between January 1st and March 1st 2008.

The cost of the Level A Plan is $250. See sample

Level B: For Cat 3 men or Elite Master riders. This plan assumes you have the ability to train 12-16 hours and ride 5-7 days per week, and that you have logged at least 1200 miles between January 1st and March 1st 2008.

The cost of the Level B Plan is $225. See sample

Level C: For Cat 4 men, Cat 3 women. This plan assumes you have the ability to train 10-14 hours and ride 4-6 days per week, and that you have logged at least 1000 miles between January 1st and March 1st 2008.

The cost of the Level C Plan is $200. See sample

Level D: For Cat 5 men, Cat 4 women. This plan assumes you have the ability to train 8-12 hours and ride 4-6 days per week, and that you have logged at least 600 miles between January 1st and March 1st 2008.
